List of Features

Secret Code Explorer

The Shortcut Master application also has a secret code explorer option that gets you a list of features or code on your phone. Moreover, you can filter the codes list by Apps, System Apps or downloaded apps. Note that for each app in the list, the first line is the Code, the second line is the Application Name, and the third and final line is the Broadcast Reciever Name. You can create an easy access shortcut by tapping on the item. Once you tap on the item from the list, a context menu will appear that will let you launch the code, explore the app (that owns this code) or add this code to the favorite list for easy access.

Moreover, you have 4 options to launch the code;

  • Method 0 and 1 (broadcast the intent). However, method 0 requires root permission, while method 1 doesn’t.
  • Method 2 and 3 (simulate the dialing on the dial-pad). By default, method 2 dials ##code##, and method 3 dials *#code#, but you can change these formats in the Settings.

Now, once you have tested the code, you can add a shortcut for this code to the favorite list. Moreover, note that you can not create a shortcut on the home screen for the secret code.

App Explorer

The Shortcut Master application also has an App Explorer feature. From here, you will get a list of installed apps in your device. Besides, you can also filter the list by All apps, System apps or User (downloaded) apps, as you could do in Secret Code Explorer.

However, in the App Explorer feature, the first line is the App Name, and the second line is the Package Name. Once you tap on the application a list of all components (activities) in that app will open. And, by tapping on the item, a context menu will appear from where you can launch the target, add a shortcut for this target to the favorite list or the home screen for easy access.

With the Search function in the Shortcut Master, you can search the target feature by performing a full-text search. You just need to enter any text to the search box and press the button to search. Moreover, you will get the text will in the app name, package name and the target class name. However, you can also filter the search result by All apps, System apps or User (downloaded) apps.

Capture Shortcut

You can also capture the shortcut manually or automatically. In order to manually capture, you need to navigate to the desired app that you want to capture shortcut. Then, pull down the system notification bar and tap on the “Capture Shortcut” icon. Moreover, in order to capture automatically, do the same and wait for the predefined period of time and this app will do auto capture for you.

Export/Import

You can also export the favorite list to the file on the SDcard for backup. Use the file to import later or copy the file to other devices.

Conclusion

So, there you have it from my side in this article. I found this app pretty useful because you can create a shortcut of almost any feature or an application. But there are some cons which I must state with this applciation. The app crashes a lot and it is annoying. Moreover, you can also find the application being old and does not get frequent updates, which in turn has made the app unresponsive on many occasions.

Please let us know in the comments below if you found this application useful. Also, do share with us any issues you face while downloading the application as well. Until the next post…Cheers!
