The recently released Dragonball Z: Kakarot retells the events of the original Dragonball Z story through the lens of an engaging and high octane open-world RPG. Kakarot allows players to face the titular villains of the classic anime starting during the Saiyan saga and concluding with the final encounter with the murderous Kid Buu. The game allows players to immerse themselves in the world of Toriyama’s Dragonball Z. Giving it’s player base the opportunity to construct teams of their favorite characters in order to defeat powerful foes. With a well-developed RPG system and an aesthetically appealing art direction, Kakarot is a Dragonball Z fan’s perfect title to experience the story from a new perspective.

Growing accustomed to the game’s in-depth systems and engine can be a difficult task. For all the things it does right, the game does fail to deliver a worthwhile explanation of certain mechanics. Alongside the, at times, difficult boss battles Kakarot can be a difficult game to excel in at first. This guide will provide players with some essential tips to excel in Kakarot and how they can get the most mileage out of the game’s complicated systems and mechanics.

Understanding the Z-Orb System in Dragonball Z: Kakarot

One of the things that the title does not do a great job detailing is the different uses of the Z-orbs. As players travel throughout the game’s open world, they will pass by a variety of different colored orbs. At first, these items may seem pointless and can be skipped. However, they play an essential and vital role in character progression. And are the number one priority for a new player.

There are 6 different kinds of Z-Orbs available in the game. Each one can be found in different ways when traveling through the world. Such as the common blue orbs that are placed throughout the air space of Kakarot’s wide map. These are used primarily in a character’s skill chart or to unlock a given ability. Being sure to gain a hefty amount of these orbs is an essential part of leveling up a given character.

Be sure to pick up as many Z-Orbs as you travel in Kakarot. These will allow you to gain access to some of the coolest abilities in the game. Alongside being able to level up and strengthen your favorite characters.

Picking up D-Medals in Dragonball Z: Kakarot

Similar to the Z-Orb system, D-Medals are another very important aspect of the game that is poorly explained. These D-Medals are the key to getting useful skills and abilities in the game.

Getting access to D-Medals allows players to use powerful abilities in the overworld of the game. These D-Medals are found by completing given side quests or combat missions and are essential to character development.

Be Sure to Always Charge Your Ki in Dragonball Z: Kakarot

Ki is the equivalent of mana within the Dragonball Z universe. It is the system in which players can fire off powerful magic attacks and dish out huge damage. However, in order to gain the most amount of mileage out of your character, it is important to always have Ki available at your disposal.

Thankfully the game allows players to charge their Ki during combat encounters. So being able to find openings during an intense battle to charge up your Ki reserves is a must to defeat some of the powerful bosses in the game. The attacks mapped to these Ki attacks allow players to unleash some of the game’s most damaging attacks. So if a player doesn’t make time to replenish their reserves than they are essentially fighting a match with a handicap.

So be sure to knock enemies away to give yourself the space to charge up your Ki reserves that way you are always able to have a powerful attack at your disposal.
