After much hype and demand, the Time Machine is finally coming to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot this month. Developer Bandai Namco announced the release date for the much-asked-for feature earlier this week alongside news of March’s 1.05 content patch, which contains a couple of bug fixes for the hit RPG action game.
Modeled after the device Trunks famously used to travel to the past during Dragonball Z’s Cell Saga, this time machine will allow players to go back and replay quests and boss battles they’ve already completed, as well as pick up on a few time-specific side missions they missed while going through the main plot. Fans have been asking for this feature since the game’s release in January, causing Namco Bandai to announce time travel’s introduction to Kakarot shortly after it hit shelves.
Bandai Namco’s website announced the Time Machine alongside March’s new 1.05 patch, which is set to fix a couple of bugs that have been plaguing Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot since launch. These include an application error some players reported experiencing in Capsule Corp’s Training Room and a glitch causing players to get stuck on the “Android Saga - Episode 10” chapter of the main story mode. According to the Patch 1.05 update page, the Time Machine will also be coming sometime later in the month.
Although some players have noted the newest title isn’t that different from past games in the franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has earned record-breaking sales and high praise from fans due to its vast open world and introduction of RPG elements to the series. It follows the titular Saiyan hero (known as “Son Goku” to his friends) as he battles through the four main story arcs of the Dragon Ball Z anime (Saiyan, Frieza, Cell, and Buu), with countless side-quests and mini-games covering the smaller aspects of the beloved Dragon Ball lore.
Side quests that players missed on their first time through, or simple want to relive, will now be able to be accessed thanks to this upcoming Time Machine mechanic. Kakarot is already popular due to how it captures the world and mythos of one of Japan’s most popular and influential franchises, and the added bonus of replaying past quests will no doubt be a plus for fans. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s Patch 1.05 is available now, so players should keep posted for the upcoming release of the free Time Machine replay mechanic in the coming weeks.
