In the current age of TV revivals like The X-Files and Fuller House, one practice not being undertaken nearly as often as it used to is rebooting a successful small-screen series for theaters. Yet, that’s exactly what producer/star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is doing with Baywatch, a feature film revamp of the classic 1990s show that has been cited by various sources as pulling in over 1 billion global viewers per week in its heyday.

Oddly enough though, while the Baywatch movie features high-profile actors like Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario in leading roles, there has been surprisingly little announced involvement from members of the original TV show’s cast. Cameos from the original stars are a long-held tradition when revitalizing a TV series for the big-screen, and yet the only cast member to formally sign on so far had been David Hasselhoff. On one level, this makes sense, as Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchanon essentially served as Baywatch’s constant, leading the cast for 10 out of 11 seasons.

Still, if there’s one person arguably even more closely associated with Baywatch than The Hoff, it’s Pamela Anderson. A former (and future) Playboy Playmate at the time, Anderson had garnered some mainstream attention via her brief stint as “Tool Time Girl” Lisa on Home Improvement back during the ’90s, but it was the 5 seasons she spent playing eye-catching lifeguard C.J. Parker that really sent her career into the stratosphere. Thankfully, Baywatch fans can now rest easy on that front, as Johnson has taken to Instagram to reveal that Anderson will in fact be a part of the upcoming movie.

You can check out Johnson’s latest Baywatch-related Instagram post (with “The Rock” pictured alongside Anderson), below:

She introduced the world to “CJ Parker” and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation - for the most successful TV show of all time. A pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our #BAYWATCH cast. We couldn’t have made this movie without you. Welcome home. While it might sound like hyperbole for Johnson to refer to C.J. Parker as an iconic character, it’s actually quite accurate, at least for those who lived through the 1990s. Baywatch was a true cultural phenomenon, launching and/or reigniting multiple careers, but no star shone brighter than Anderson’s. Whatever one’s opinion of her tabloid-fueling exploits in the decades since, Pamela Anderson spent the ’90s as a legit household name, and often served as the literal face of Baywatch’s marketing.

It’s currently unclear whether Anderson or Hasselhoff’s roles in the Baywatch movie will extend beyond a mere one-scene cameo, but they definitely won’t be playing their classic characters, as Johnson and Daddario are already set to portray Mitch Buchanon and C.J. Parker respectively. Still, if the shape Anderson appears to be in the above picture is anything to judge by, it wouldn’t be too shocking to see her once again don Baywatch’s trademark red swimsuit and save a life or two.

Baywatch opens in theaters on May 19, 2017.
