Christie Brinkley’s daughter will replae her on Dancing With The Stars after an arm injury. The supermodel had to have surgery recently to fix her arm.

Brinkley, who is best known for her beauty, graced the cover of Sports Illustrated an unprecedented three times for their swimsuit issues back in the 1970s, helping her gain worldwide fame. She also spent twenty-five years as a spokesperson for Cover Girl cosmetics and has appeared on over 500 magazine covers. She has three children, Alexa Ray Joel, who she shares with “Piano Man” singer Billy Joel, Jack Brinkley-Cook, and Sailor Brinkley-Cook.

Before the premiere of season 28 of Dancing With the Stars even got underway, Brinkley has had to drop out. The supermodel’s departure was a last-minute decision that was made due to her sustaining injuries to her arm and wrist that required surgery. Luckily, Brinkley’s daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, has decided to help her mother out and step in to fill her shoes. The accident occurred while Brinkley was rehearsing for the first episode, and she released a statement explaining that she would not be able to participate in the show. Us Weekly was the first to report that the Sports Illustrated model had been chosen to replace her mother and only had a matter of hours to learn the routine.

The mother-of-three joked that both she and Sailor were getting their break on Dancing With the Stars, but that her break was literal. The model joked all in good fun, but was very proud of her daughter for stepping in and saving the day. Sailor announced to Good Morning America that she was stepping in for her mother’s sake and just wanted to make Brinkley proud. She continued to explain that her mother loved dancing and performing, and that getting hurt was everyone’s worst nightmare. Sailor did say she is a bit nervous about the challenge, but her goal was to do something that scared her, hopefully changing her for the better.

Luckily for Sailor, it does not seem that she had to move her schedule around too much. Before being a performer herself, she was preparing herself to watch her mother’s opening dance and every dance after. Brinkley’s ex-husband Billy Joel said he was looking forward to supporting her in her dance routines and hopes to see her back in action next season.
