Dancing With The Stars co-host Tom Bergeron defended Hannah Brown, The Bachelorette star who missed the mark on her jazz performance during Monday night’s Halloween episode.
Brown and her dance partner Alan Bersten performed a haunted jazz number as a dead pageant queen for Dancing with the Stars’ Halloween week. Brown broke down behind the scenes after Monday’s Halloween episode of the show after receiving harsh criticism from the judges and a dropping score of 25 out of 30. The judges told her that they felt she was disconnected from the dance and felt like she lacked confidence. The former Bachelorette explained her disconnect on Instagram the following day revealing just how difficult it is to be on the dance competition as it’s her first time dancing in front of a crowd.
Brown’s partner, professional dancer Alan Bersten, agreed with Inaba’s feedback initially, but then he went to Instagram to clarify what he meant in agreeing with Inaba. He called Brown a “dream partner,” adding, “I know this doesn’t come easy to you, but you impress me every single day when you go out there and you give it 100% I am so proud of you. I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for being an incredible teammate. Thank you for always leaving your heart on the floor, and thank you for trusting me on this journey.” Brown responded on Instagram, explaining her struggle to demonstrate the confidence she cultivated after a tough season of The Bachelorette. She said that she’s doing her best each week facing that “uncomfortableness of opening myself up again to be judged.”
Despite the “disconnect” the judges, her partner, and Brown have attested to, Brown says she is “…giving this [her] all. It’s [her] focus and passion right now.” The host, Tom Bergeron totally disagreed with the judges, as he told Us Weekly, “I’m not seeing the disconnect the judges addressed, to be honest.” He also conceded that Brown is a frontrunner on the show and she’s one of “several contestants who deserve to have an eye (or two) on the Mirrorball.”
Like many of the celebrities seen on Dancing With The Stars, what Brown lacks in dance expertise she makes up for in heart. With a new voting system in place that accounts for fan votes and scores from the pros like Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman, it ultimately comes down to who the judges decide to keep. Bachelorette nation has supported Brown thus far, but with only a few weeks left, it’s up to the fans to decide whether she gets to continue on her journey towards the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.
