Dancing with the Stars’ season 28 contestant, James Van Der Beek, and his wife are expecting another baby. The actor turned dancer will be welcoming he and his wife’s sixth child together.

Van Der Beek was shot into stardom when he landed the main role of Dawson Leery on Dawson’s Creek - a popular 90’s teen drama series. He then went on to star in bigger TV shows and movies.  Van Der Beek is a current contestant of Dancing with the Stars, where he’s been partnered up with dance pro, Emma Slater. He dedicated last week’s rumba dance to his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, who he has been married since 2010. Over the course of their nine-year-long marriage, the pair have welcomed their five children - four daughters and one son - 9-year-old Olivia, 7-year-old Joshua, 5-year-old Annabel, 3-year-old Emilia, and 15-month-old Gwendolyn.

Earlier this week, Van Der Beek announced on his Instagram that his large family will be adding another member. The excited actor posted a family picture, showing him, his wife, and his five children against a leafy background. The Dancing with the Stars contestant wrote a very lengthy caption for the photo. He wrote, “Thrilled beyond belief to announce that another little bundle of joy has picked us to be their family.” He then explained that he and his wife “chose to have our first ultrasound on camera with our #DWTS crew capturing the result,” something he admitted he’d never see himself doing. Van Der Beek explained that since he and his wife, Kimberly, have suffered three miscarriages in the past. Saying, that he and his wife “have been through three of those first appointments to discover either no heartbeat, or no baby,” they felt like it was an important moment to share. See the adorable family photo and baby announcement post below:

Though, Van Der Beek revealed that he has a dislike for the word “miscarriage,” saying that he thinks it’s “a word that needs a replacement,” because “nobody failed to “carry”, these things sometimes just happen.” He then went on to destigmatize miscarriages saying that people should talk more about them because they’re traumas that people “often go through in secret.”  The actor said that there should be “zero shame.” The Dawsons’ Creek alum said that he and his wife “decided to put ourselves out there - not knowing what we’d find - in an effort to chip away at any senseless stigma around this experience,” and to “encourage people who might be going through it.” He ended the lengthy post with, “Happily, for us - this time- we walked out with tears of joy. #AndThenIDancedAQuickStep.”

Van Der Beek is not only elated with the way his Dancing with the Stars competition is going, but he’s also got the joy of being a father again. The actor shared his family’s good news and has begun to destigmatize miscarriages. After three painful miscarriages, the family will finally be welcoming the sixth Van Der Beek child. Congrats!
