The video, which can be seen below, starts with various developers reading community tweets (some quite expletive-laden) regarding the status of Dying Light 2. After the initial awkwardness gets out of the way, members of the dev team ask fans to stick with them just a bit longer and that more information is just around the corner. Their collective statement says:
While not much concrete info outside of the re-established release window is provided, Techland does share a brief snippet of new gameplay, starting at the 2:07 mark.
This is a huge and complex project, and we needed time to make sure it will live up to our vision. All of us here are putting our hearts into delivering a game that you will keep playing for months. We’ll be ready to start talking about Dying Light 2 very, very soon.
The whole team needs your trust and support, as this is what motivates us, especially now when the circumstances are hard for everyone. We are proud of having such devoted fans as you, no matter how you express your feelings. And just for you, here’s a small snippet of what’s coming. Please stay with us just a bit longer, and stay safe. Thank you.
Dying Light 2 was originally slated for release way back in spring 2020, but Techland delayed the game indefinitely in January last year. Since then, there hasn’t been much of anything to go on. Despite a very few rumblings in the game’s official Discord (thanks, Comicbook.com), the studio has remained mostly mum on the game while still supporting the original.
Stay tuned for more on Dying Light 2. If the game does end up hitting its 2021 release window, there’s sure to be more news just over the horizon.
